Description

The first Blu-ray release was good, but far from great – which is certainly what this trilogy deserves. This fan's favorite literary giant became a fan favorite cinematic giant immediately, but will it be a gigantic Blu-ray system seller? The third track features producer Barrie Osbourne, executive producer Mark Ordesky, cinematographer Andrew Lesnie, editor John Gilber, co-producer Rick Porras, composer Howard Shore, visual effects supervisor Jim Rygiel, supervising sound editor/co-designer Ethan Van der Ryn, supervising sound editor Mike Hopkins, Weta Animation Designer and supervisor Randy Cook, Weta VFX art director Christian Rivers, Weta VFX cinematographer Brian Van’t Hul, and miniatures unit director of photography Alex Funke. In this section is also a large stills gallery (with some of the stills featuring audio commentaries) for both the peoples and realms of Middle Earth. In theory, if this was done as an overall correction, you could just knock down the green channel a couple of points to compensate (essentially adding magenta).

More worryingly are early reports that the recent Jackson-approved theatrical re-release of the extended cuts in US cinemas have had no such green-colour-tinkering – and that Jackson himself stated that this would be exactly how the Blu-ray versions would look too (which, by all accounts, it isn’t). The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. But most of the additions are little bits that give more detail, but for all the add-ons, the pacing is kept up — one never feels the additional 43 minutes.

When I say ‘plagued’ – this was far from a bad presentation, but it was also far from the presentation that fans were expecting for such a significant release.

The long spoke of "Mouth of Sauron" scene, in which a nefarious ambassador (Bruce Spence) meets Aragorn's army at the Black Gates, takes about a minute. Each film contains two discs, of the movie, and two bonus disc "appendices" of extensive documentary on all behind-the-scenes aspects. Much of the furor about the colors related to some pre-release screen shots; in particular, one that showed a white screen which now boasted a distinctly pea soup orientation.
